FREELANCE PHYSICAL THEATRE PRACTITIONER We are looking for an enthusiastic, dynamic Physical Theatre Practitioner to choreograph our new Youth Theatre Production, ‘It Snows' by Bryony Lavery and Frantic Assembly. What we want to do We are looking to contract an experienced physical theatre practitioner to choreograph our Youth Theatre production, ‘It Snows'. They will be expected to work in close partnership with the production Director Laura Dlucik. The production Same old story. Boy doesn't meet Girl. Girl doesn't meet Boy. Threatened by terrifying Lads Gang. Threatened by awe-inspiring Girls Gang. Mum and Dad have declared War. Against each other. Weird neighbour in the building opposite. Usual ordinary gloominess. Then, one day, it snows. And everything changes.
The production itself is to be performed on December 20th -22nd at Swindon Town Hall. The aim is to produce a highly physical, professional, emotive piece of theatre with a cast of up to thirty-five young people aged 12-16. Who are we looking for? The successful applicant will need to be committed to working with the specific age range; approachable; energetic and experienced in both physical theatre and choreographing large numbers of young people in production. As part of the selection process a full CRB check will be undertaken. Contract structure The selected individual will be contracted to work between six to eight mutually agreed full dates during weekends/school holidays between October and December 2010 and must attend up to three production meetings. Fee: £1500.00 Who should apply? The choreographer will have already worked in a similar capacity with other large groups of young people. Be interested in being involved in the shape of the whole production rather than see the choreography as separate to the direction. They should understand the opportunities and constraints of creating work with young people. They should be able to obtain strong, clear results from the young people when under clear time constraint pressures. Flexibility will be required as we try to get this development and relationship ‘right' as it unfolds. This is a dynamic project. Reliability is required to support all the production team on the project. Please send your CV and covering letter to Laura Dlucik, Education & Outreacch Leader, Sixth Sense Theatre for Young People, c/o The Wyvern Theatre, Theatre Square, Swindon SN1 1QN, or by email to sstc@dircon.co.uk. Feel free to call for a preliminary chat – 01793 614864. Closing date: 9am, 17th September 2010 |
